Chia Seeds

 

If you haven’t already heard, chia seeds are being touted as one of the most nutritious, powerful “superfoods” on the planet.  They are an excellent  source of fiber, loaded with antioxidants, full of protein and the richest natural source of Omega-3.  

 
The chia seed, (Salvia hispanica L.), is a tiny seed with a lot of muscle.  Each seed contains roughly 34% oil, 25% dietary fiber and 20% protein.  The remainder of the seed is composed of important trace minerals such as magnesium, phosphorus, calcium and iron.
